Who is eligible:
Any woman is eligible for DAR membership who is age eighteen years or older and can prove her descent from a Revolutionary Patriot.
Your ancestor is considered to be a Patriot if he or she aided the cause of American independence during the period between April 19, 1775 (Battle of Lexington) and November 26, 1783 (final withdrawal of British troops from New York).
The DAR recognizes three types of qualifying service;
Military Service, Civil Service, and Patriotic Service.
Your Patriot Ancestor:
In general, your ancestor is considered to be a Patriot if he or she aided the cause of American independence either as a soldier or by helping in a number of other ways.
Your ancestor may already be a proven Patriot. The DAR maintains the largest database in the world of men and women with documented Revolutionary service
Proving your lineage:
You will need to show documentation that proves your lineage back through the generations to your Patriot ancestor. This involves ~ Birth, Marriage and Death. There are many documentations that are accepted by NSDAR.
